The Palm Springs POWER Baseball Organization is proud to announce Tom Gamboa as the 2010 field manager for the POWER. The POWER will host a press conference Tuesday, April 27 at 11:00am to speak with the media and fans.

Gamboa brings a long history of professional managing and coaching to the POWER organization. He began as a major league scout for the Baltimore Orioles in 1973, and was most recently the San Diego Padres Minor League Field Development Coordinator in 2009. He has held many positions throughout his prolific career, including hitting instructor, scouting supervisor, manager, base and bullpen coach, and director of minor league instruction.  Gamboa has worked with the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs and the Kansas City Royals during his 36 year excursion in Major League baseball.

“I am very excited to have been named the manager of the POWER this summer,” said Gamboa. “I love new opportunities to share my baseball experiences with young baseball players, and I have no doubt that good things will come from this year’s team.”

Harry Gurley, the 2009 POWER manager, will continue to be a part of the organization as the 2010 pitching coach. The POWER grabbed their first outright Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association conference championship last year under Gurley’s reigns.

“I am excited to work with our coaching staff, and interact with fans,” said Gamboa. “I want to encourage all the baseball fans of the valley to make it out to the ballpark to see what we have to offer!”

The POWER will kick of their 7th season of play against the Casa Grande Cotton Kings on Friday, June 4 at 7:05pm, with gates opening at 6:00pm.
