Palm Springs, Calif.

The Palm Springs POWER’s season came to an end Wednesday night as the Inland Valley Bucs won Game 2, 5-4, and completed the sweep.

The Bucs got the third inning started with an error by Austin Reyes (Santa Clara University), finding Malcolm Smith safe at first. Smith ended up scoring from second on a single by Christian Valdez.

Scoring continued in the 5th inning, as the Bucs took a 4-0 lead. Connor Kostecka and Kory Brown got things going with two singles with one out in the top of the 5th. Valdez then drove in Kostecka from third, later followed by a two-RBI double by Brad Lewis.

The POWER attempted a comeback, scoring once in the 6th via a Ben Nisle (Purdue) single to score Matt Green (St. Mary’s). They would score another run in the 7th inning, thanks to a double by Spencer Weston (San Diego State) to drive in Reyes. The POWER would end up tying the game in the bottom of the 8th, with Casey Combs (East Texas Baptist University) driving Green and Nisle in.

Smith scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th, scoring off an error by catcher Casey Combs on a bad throw to third that ended up in left field.

The Palm Springs POWER would like to thank our fans for their support this season. We’ll be back in 2019.
