PALM SPRINGS, CA — The POWER (39-8) were victorious in their final regular season game beating Team APS, 5-1, at Palm Springs Stadium on Tuesday night.

Trent Armstrong (Arkansas Tech) was splendid, going seven innings and allowing one run on just four hits for his second win.

“Every game matters to me even if it doesn’t,” said Armstrong following the game. “I’m going to come out and try my hardest to get the win and that’s what I did tonight.”

Palm Springs fell behind early but tied it up in the second inning on a two-out RBI single by Turner Clouse (USC) that scored Brandon Gomez (FIU).

Armstrong got the cushion he needed in the next inning when the POWER scored three more runs.

After Danny Edgeworth (Mercer) got hit by a pitch to leadoff the inning, Jordan Zimmerman (Mesa CC) and Hunter Bening (NW Florida St.) both followed with back-to-back RBI doubles. Bening would come around to score on a wild pitch to make it 4-1.

The POWER got another insurance run in the seventh inning after a wild pitch scored Zimmerman, who stole third on the play.

Keaton Cenatiempo (BYU) and Max Compton (UC Riverside) finished up on the mound, each tossing a scoreless inning of relief.

Palm Springs will face the Long Beach Legends in game one of the So-Cal World Series tomorrow night at Palm Springs Stadium with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05.
