The POWER offense scored early and often Friday night, leading the way in a 10-3 rout of the High Desert Heat.

Palm Springs tallied runs in four of the first five innings to win their seventh straight over the Heat. The POWER have outscored their SCCBL rival 63-14 over the streak.

The POWER (26-3, 11-2) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ryan Raslowsky scored from third base on a ground-ball double play.

The POWER opened up a four run margin with three more in the second. Ryan Jones led off with a walk and moved to second on Anthony Torres’ single. With one out, Michael Massi doubled in Jones and Brett Sullivan brought Torres home with a groundout. Massi would score on a wild pitch to give the POWER a 4-0 lead.

The POWER would score six runs over the fourth and fifth innings, keyed by a Sullivan RBI triple and a Massi two-run single. Massi finished the night with a season-best four runs batted in.

Pitcher Michael Barrett (1-0) earned the victory with two innings of relief. The right-hander entered the game with three strikeouts on the season, but displayed a baffling curveball and struck out the first five batters he faced.

Robert Hook also made his POWER debut in a relief role. The College of the Desert sophomore allowed just one hit and no runs in two innings.

POWER starter Ryan Harper received a no-decision, allowing two runs on six hits in four innings. Greg Turner (0-1) took the loss for the Heat, surrendering all ten runs on ten hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Palm Springs will wrap up their season series with High Desert on Saturday at 7:05pm. Every Saturday night is Kids Night, where kids 12 and under get in for just $2. Fans that can’t make it to the game can listen online at pspbb.com.
