PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ~ Palm Springs Power pitch a 2 hitter in the 7-0 victory over the SoCal Stros and improve to 8-0 to start the season. The Power are now more than halfway to breaking their all time best start of 15-0. The Power outscored the Stros 35-8 in the three game weekend series.

In game three of the series the left hander from Delta State, Seth Hougesen got the call to start the game. This was Hougesen’s second start of the year and after striking out the side in the second inning he decided to take a no hit bid all the way to the sixth inning. With one out in the sixth, Stros’ Jake Rodriguez hit a single into right field to break it up. Hougesen finished with 8 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts and only 2 hits against.

Compared to the other games to start the season, the Power offense was a bit slow tonight. The lone offensive star was Jayden Kiernan who started off the night with a sacrifice fly and an RBI to give the Power the 1-0 lead after the first. Then, with 2 on and Kiernan up to bat, he hit a moonshot to left field for a 3 run home run. Kiernan finished with 4 RBI’s on the night.

Landen Barns (8) and Matt Green (7)  both extended their hitting streaks and both hit for extra bases again.

The Power travel to Inland Valley to take on the Pirates in a double-header Monday afternoon. The road trip won’t last long as the Power are back home again on Tuesday to take on the SoCal Stros once again. Tuesday is “2s-days” at Palm Spring Stadium where all Bud and Bud Light pints are just two dollars.
