PALM SPRINGS, CA Jesse Bristow (CSU-Pueblo) fired 7.1 innings of six-hit ball to lead the POWER to a 3-2 victory over ATH Academy on Wednesday evening at Palm Springs Stadium.

Hayden Nielsen (BYU) and Zach Sterry (Oakland) put the POWER on the board in the bottom of the first with RBI singles to give the POWER a 2-0 lead.

Bristow was touched up for a run in the fourth inning on an RBI triple by Academy catcher Stephen Zavala, but was on top of his game in his second start of the season.

“I was keeping them off-balance and the defense worked well behind me,” said Bristow. “It made it easy for me and I just kept throwing strikes.”

Sterry, who drove in a run earlier in the ballgame, ripped an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to score Scotty Burcham (Sacramento State) from first base to make it a three-run ballgame.

Those three runs would be all Bristow and closer Doug Finley (CSU-Pueblo) would need.

Finley entered the ballgame with one down in the eighth inning and recorded the final five outs of the game for his second save of the season.

The POWER improved to 20-2 overall on the season while ATH Academy dropped to 11-5.

Join us Friday evening as the POWER take on Top Speed at 7:05 for Military Appreciation Night at Palm Springs Stadium. All Military personnel will be able to enter the ballgame free of charge.
