PALM SPRINGS, CA – The San Francisco Seals beat the Palm Springs POWER 4-2 on Friday night behind the arm of starter Mikey Ramirez.

The right-hander tossed a complete game allowing two runs (1 ER) on eight hits, while punching out five.

Palm Springs started well in the first inning after Nick King (Georgia) led off with a single, stole a base and made it to third base via an error. One batter later, Scotty Burcham (Sacramento State) would bring King in on a groundball to the shortstop.

Everything was going well for the POWER through the first four innings, but that’s when things started to go south.

The Seals started the fifth inning with two straight base runners. After a fly out, Seal shortstop Dante Broome singled to load the bases. POWER starter Keaton Cenatiempo (BYU) hit the next batter to bring in the first Seal run of the night. Following a strike out, Tucker Starkey flipped a hit into left field that drove in two runs to give the Seals a 3-1 lead.

Palm Springs tacked on one more run in the eight. With runners at 2nd or 3rd and one out, Nick King laced a single down the right field line scoring one run, but tying-run Danny Edgeworth was gunned down at the plate.

The POWER would threaten in the ninth, but could not come back dropping their eighth loss of the season.

The red-and-white were led offensively by Nick King who went out 3-4 with two stolen bases.

Palm Springs continues the weekend series tomorrow with the San Francisco Seals. First pitch is at 7:05. Tomorrow is also Kids Night presented by Desert Air. That means that all kids get in for two dollars.
