PALM SPRINGS, Calif – The Palm Springs POWER looked to earn the sweep against Team Top Speed, but ended up dropping the finale of the three-game weekend series Sunday by a score of 10-2 at Palm Springs Stadium.

The POWER struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Connor Hornsby delivered an RBI single that scored Ryan Raslowsky. Erik Maki immediately followed up with an RBI double driven deep to center field, scoring Hornsby all the way from first base. Hornsby had a good night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double.

Danny Diaz started well, but ran into some trouble in the second and fourth innings. He ended the night pitching three and a third innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Jonathan Hernandez made a long relief appearance and kept Top Speed scoreless through the fifth and seventh innings. He finished with four and a third innings pitched, two earned runs allowed on six hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

Top Speed put up four runs in the second inning to take an early 4-2 lead. They added to that lead by scoring three runs in the fourth inning and three more runs in the eighth.

After the series win over the weekend, the POWER are now 9-5 overall in 2015. They will be back in action Tuesday to start a two-game SCCBL series with the Orange County Riptide. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium.
