Former POWER outfielder (2011-12) Ryan Garvey was named the Pioneer League Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2012 season.

Garvey went 10-for-20 (.500) in six games for the Grand Junction Rockies with two home runs, six RBIs, three doubles and five walks.

The Coachella Valley native was drafted out of Riverside Community College by the Colorado Rockies in the 33rd round of this year’s MLB Draft.

He hit .379 for Palm Springs in the summer of 2011 where he led the team with three home runs and five triples and was the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League Home Run Derby winner.
