The Palm Springs POWER signed four players for the 2011 season from this past summer season. After taking several looks at past and present players, as well as new talent, General Manager and Owner Andrew Starke decided to sign the players before they left Palm Springs to return to school.

Returning next year for the POWER is third baseman/shortstop Chett Zeise, second baseman Zack Haley, outfielder Marcus Romero, and pitcher Brandon Love.

Zeise, (University of Iowa) had a fantastic season in the field and at the plate this season. Zeise batted .270 and was one of the top RBI men on the team with 21. After being injured all season long at Iowa, Zeise came out to Palm Springs healthy, and showed everyone what he could do.

Haley, (Liberty University) was one of the better surprises on the team. Haley was one of the top hitters and fielders all season long, flashing his glove any chance he could. The second baseman batted .343 and led the team in slugging percentage with a .471 mark. Haley might be most remembered for being the only player to make the 2010 POWER roster from the open tryouts. After making the team, Haley proved his worth instantly by making a name for himself in the field and in the batter’s box.

Romero, (Southern Utah University) was another solid edition to the team this season. Romero had one of the highest batting averages on the team with a .325 average. Romero also led the team in RBI’s this season with 23. The five-tool talent also had 13 stolen bases, and only made one error all season.

Love, (Mercer University), was one of the top POWER pitchers on the season. Love went 2-1 with a 1.52 ERA, and struck out 31 batters in 29.2 innings. Love improved throughout the entire summer, and was touching the low to mid-90’s with his fastball.

With the talent this team had, Starke knew he had to act quickly if he was going to get these players to come back. The POWER wishes the players good luck on their upcoming college seasons, and looks forward to seeing them out here next summer.
