Barnes POWERs squad to 4-0

June 8, 2010 – It did not take a late rally this time as the POWER jumped out to an early 2 – 0 lead in the second inning and never looked back.  The bats were alive and well tonight as they were able to take care of business against the opening game against the Thunder with a big 8 – 0 win.

POWER starting pitcher Travis Barnes gave his team a strong outing as he took a no-hitter into the fourth inning. His no-hitter broken up by a Dylan Early double after one out, but he was able to give the POWER six innings of two-hit baseball.

At the plate, Keenyn Walker, who had two infield singles on the night, started the scoring in the bottom of the second as his first infield single plated one run.  Ricky Gingras immediately followed with a double that allowed Walker to score from first.

Later in the game, the POWER erupted with a five-run sixth that started with Chris LeFay scoring on a wild pitch by Thunder pitcher Ryan Harris.  Brett Christopher also contributed with an RBI single in the sixth, along with Zack Haley, who contributed an RBI single in the sixth and seventh to bring the final run total to eight as the POWER Cruise by the Thunder.

The POWER will face off against the Thunder again tomorrow in the conclusion of the short, two-game series. The first pitch is set for 7:05 PM as the POWER look to stay on a roll and complete another series sweep to improve to 5 – 0.  The gates will open up a 6:00 PM so come out and join us for another great night at the ballpark as the POWER celebrate California Winter League (CWL) Night.
